I’m happy to announce some good news for the province. Last April the government launched the ‘Reaching Home’ plan to tackle homelessness across the country. Reaching Home is a key part of our National Housing Strategy, aiming to reduce chronic homelessness nationally by 50% by 2027–28.
As one part of this plan, the Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre in Halifax will be administering just over $2 million over the next four years to fund projects that will serve Indigenous people experiencing homelessness in Nova Scotia. The Friendship Centre will select and mange projects from community organizations across the province.
